They hook up pretty quickly and I liked that. She was petite, with dark hair and dark eyes. I liked the balance with Becca's messed up family and Sam's messed up family. The chemistry between them is off the charts and the way they play it is fun, hot and sexy as hell; but not everything is fun and play between them, they have problems, they have ghosts from their past, but together they can conquer everything they want. To those around her Becca's true worth was in her ability to take care of her brother, the real star. Something about the dark intensity of Sams eyes and the thrill she gets at his touch convinces her to stay awhile. These are the best and I have a shelf of them! I laughed, giggled and grinned. We have all of this in abundance here, for sure. I just wish it had been a bit more. Well, not too much shit anyway. Lucky Harbor is sort of a pit stop for me at the moment. But he cant resist offering Becca a job just to hear her laugh and have her near. And it makes you believe in them, make a connection.
Although he remains guarded, there's so much more to him, and I love how Becca gets that. Becca Thorpe is making a pit stop in Lucky Harbor. If only real life worked out well with people shoving traumatic events to the back of their mind and dealing with it only when your true love comes front and center. Jill Shalvis succeeds with something authors rarely do: getting better and better. Sam gave him a look.

She used to duet with her brother Jase, but had stage fright, and couldn't deal with the pressure and lifestyle of being a performer. I really love their bromance; their interactions are fun and left me wanting to know more about them.
Becca had a hard time doing the same, and she glanced around for someone, anyone, but there was no one in sight. A few minutes later, wondering if maybe Becca had gotten her sweet ass fired, Sam stepped into the hall and found her standing there with her back to him, hugging herself with one arm, the other hand holding her cell phone to her ear. Sure we are told skimpy details that just did not satisfy my curiosity. Sam crouched down to help her scoop the fallen plates onto the tray, but she pushed at him. For me, it's a perfect escape to happy.
When I'm in a reading slump, or even not in the mood to start a brand new book, Jill Shalvis can always get me out of a funk. He barely shares more than ten words with her the first time they meet and the next day acts like he knows her inside and out and can tell how 'sweet and warm she is behind the wall she puts up' and she can tell how sweet and wonderful he is. I got to really know them individually and as a couple. Totally unrealistic and so contrived. I think I've read 90% of her books. Without spoiling the story, this is the first of a new trilogy with three very hot guys is there anything else in Lucky Harbor??? I loved her for her honesty though.
Sam is one of the most dependable people in Lucky Harbor. I made a bet with him that I could handle this job and I have tonight to prove it. Since the sun was also bright, making seeing details difficult, it was probably — hopefully — her imagination that his mouth quirked in a barely there smile as he shook his head at her. Any resemblance to the quirky characters in her books is, um, mostly coincidental. The attraction he feels for her is impossible to ignore for very long.
